Steve Resnick Studio ~
Steve’s wife Valerie had a fascination with glass in early childhood and began collecting colorful glass objects at the age of 7. Educated at
Cornell
University, Valerie brought to her work the attention to detail inherent in the traditional art disciplines. With her background in interior design, she was especially skilled at conceptualizing decorative accessories and furniture for the home and workplace. Valerie has created everything from delicate vases to massive conference tables.
Steve has been working in glass since the 1960’s. After both undergraduate and graduate studies at Cornell, he stayed on to teach techniques of stained glass. Steve arrived in the
Washington,
D.C. area in 1976, establishing one of the most successful art glass studios in the region, producing countless commissions of stained, etched and carved glass for residential and commercial application. He is a leading authority on glass restoration and has been called upon to participate in restoration projects for the Smithsonian Institution as well as the U.S. Capitol. Borrowing on his experience in stone sculpture, his glass carving is characterized by its wonderful textural quality utilizing intricate organic motifs. Working with Valerie, Steve developed a magnificent collection of glass Judaica which can be seen in fine galleries and distinguished museums thoughout the
United States.
